Pukatja. Stories in Clay
In association with Ernabella Arts
Pukatja: Stories in Clay brings together ceramics by three remarkable artists from Ernabella: Anne Nginyangka Thompson, Derek Jungarrayi Thompson, and Alison Milyika Carroll, representing a ceramic practice that has spoken to collectors and institutions for generations.
Ernabella Arts is one of Australia’s oldest continuously operating Indigenous art centre, established in 1948, and these works carry the full weight of that legacy. Each vessel carries Country, Tjukurpa and living culture, objects that are as much document as artwork, and as quietly compelling on a shelf as they are significant in a collection.
