Jenni Kemarre Martiniello OAM
Jenni Kemarre Martiniello OAM is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist of Aboriginal (Arrernte), Chinese and Anglo-Celtic descent, Kemarre skin. A recipient of national awards for poetry, creative writing and visual arts, an International Women’s Day Award (2010), and an ACT Nominee for Senior Australian of the Year (2018), Jenni is one of Australia’s most celebrated and internationally recognised glass artists.
Her practice centres on hot blown glass works that invoke the organic weaves and forms of traditional Arrernte woven objects including eel traps, fish traps and dillibags, paying tribute to the survival of the oldest living weaving practices in the world. Through the contemporary medium of glass, Jenni creates works that are at once ancient and strikingly modern, grounded in cultural knowledge and alive with light.
Her works are held in significant public and private collections across Australia, the UK, USA, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific.
