Kwanty Penh (After the Rain)
Group exhibition in association with Artists of Ampilatwatja
Kwanty Penh (After the Rain) brings together a body of new work from the Artists of Ampilatwatja. The exhibition features six individual acrylic works on linen alongside a remarkable ten-panel collaborative work on paper, created collectively by thirteen artists.
The Ampilatwatja artists have built a distinct and immediately recognisable visual language, one rooted in the living knowledge of country, bush medicine, waterholes, soaks and the rhythms of the desert landscape. Their work carries both an outer story, visible to all, and deeper layers of meaning held within the community.
In recent years the collective has earned growing national recognition, named as finalists in the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA) in both 2024 and 2025. Their collaborative practice, rare in its scale and cohesion, has drawn particular attention from curators and collectors alike.
Kwanty Penh is both a celebration of country after rain and a testament to the strength that comes from making work together.
